Photography by Sam Robles Founded in 2005, Blatte United was started by two Swedish ex-pats in New York City who wanted to play good football while creating a family for players who, like them, had left theirs behind. It wasn’t long before this family came together, representing countries and cultures from all over the world — not just the home of the beloved Zlatan. With roots in England, Chile, Greece, Australia, Germany, Bulgaria, Brazil, Italy, Denmark, Iran, Eritrea, and Ghana, diversity flavored the football as well as the conversations and get togethers off the pitch and it’s one of the reasons why we created Eleven New York. Blatte United has seen players come and go, but each new recruit becomes a lifelong member of our family — something we hope never changes. Please enjoy the following photo essay, as we follow Blatte United from the couch to the pitch on matchday.
